Make no mistake, CD Marino are the real deal this season. Playing their home game at Buzanada, the blues oozed confidence and that combined with hard work and flexible tactics ensured a 2-1 victory over CD Tenerife B. The Santa Cruz visitors had the best of the early play as Youssef put a shot wide, and Borja looped a chance over the bar.

Marino are very good at absorbing pressure to take the sting out of their opponents, it proved to be the case again as the defence stood firm. Most of Tenerife´s attacks were down their left to Faridi but it became predictable and encouraged the blues to spread their own play. Ahmed has been a welcome return to  Marino, he was on top form out wide on the left, it took a well timed tackle by Pedro to cut off his determined run at goal. The busy forward was soon troubling the visitors again but blasted the ball wide.

At the other end Saavedra was cool and calm to shield the ball to safety when Borja threatened. Otano was getting more to do in goal for Tenerife, he was strong in the air and cut out a couple of good chances. Just after the half hour, Marino took the lead with a superb piece of skill from Nami, he cut inside from the left, went across two defenders, and unleashed a fierce shot into the back of the net.  Javi was strong and powerful leading the attack and went close with a rushed shot. Faridi closed the half with a free kick that was cleared by the home defence.

Tenerife tried to up their tempo after the break, a long shot was cleared well with a two fisted punch from goalie David. Play switched to the other end as Ahmed brought an equally impressive tip over save from Otono. Adri tried to catch Marino off guard but was thwarted by an alert David who raced out to block him. The visitors 13 goal top scorer, Brian Martin was only sub but was brought on to try to get them back into the game. It worked well, he met a hanging cross from Borja with a firm header and the game was all square. Faridi nearly grabbed the lead with a low shot, and Adri headed over but Marino came back strongly.

Roy made a great run down the right and fired in a tempting cross, Saavedra ghosted in from outside the box and buried the ball past Otono with a powerful header to restore the lead. That seemed to kill off the Tenerife threat, Marino were well on top for the closing 10 minutes, Samuel put a shot just wide and sub Prince crashed in a long shot that wasn´t far off target. There was some desperate defending from Tenerife to prevent further damage, Bamba was fouled twice in the space of five yards as he headed down the right flank. The final whistle marked another big step forward for Marino who returned to the top of their Tercera Division group and kept on course for the promotion play offs.

Heavy on build up but light on shooting, CD Marino fell behind to UD Las Palmas C. A more direct second half approach and positive substitutes brought their rewards with a last gasp injury time 2-1 home win to regain top spot in their Tercera Group.

Zeben Buades found visiting goalie Ale´s safe hands with an early strike. Diego made room for an acute angle shot that cleared the bar, but they were limited after that by a solid back four. Too many times Marino moves broke down as they passed the ball around rather than take a pop at the goal. The yellows from Gran Canaria began to get more adventurous, Luis unleashed a swerving shot from a deep position which wasn´t far off target. A few minutes later their enterprise paid off, as Ian caught the home defence cold with a powerful strike to take the lead.

Luis speculated again, putting the ball wide, and Pipo forced a good save from David in the home goal. Charni pushed up more from midfield to spice up the blues play, and Niki opened Las Palmas up with his runs down the right. Marino were causing Las Palmas more problems now, A Diego cross from the right fell perfectly for Santi but his header flew over the bar. There was still danger from the visitors, Diego was though before Saavedra tidied up with a back header to David.

Marino looked sharper after the break, Ahmed tried to lock onto a cross pass but it was too high to meet with a header. A double change on the hour saw Marino add Bamba and Javi Gonzalez for Santi and Zeben. The changes gave Marino more punch and they forced a series of corners. The leveller came when a speedy run and cross was powered into the goal from the head of Nami. With Ahmed, Nami, and Javi Gonzalez taking turns to be the target man, the Las Palmas defence struggled to shackle them. Javi warmed the keepers gloves with a crisp shot, and Ahmed teed up the ball before firing wide.

Recent signing Oli made a run from his central defensive position to meet a corner with his head but didn´t manage to hit the target. The final home change brought  Michael from the bench to patrol the left wing as Ahmed departed. Pipo managed a forced slice at the Marino goal but David wasn´t troubled. The subs were giving Marino plenty of fresh ideas but the yellows Sebas wasn´t long arrived on the pitch when his full on tackle on Michael left him worse off and he needed carrying off the pitch for treatment.

One last big push was needed by Marino and that was what they gave. With the Las Palmas goal mouth crowded a corner from Samuel sailed over and Michael got a head to it, a deflection off the yellows Josemi made sure the goalie couldn´t stop it and the Marino players piled on each other to celebrate their win. Now a point clear at the head of the table, the second half of the season should give Marino a good shot at the promotion play offs.

There’s just no stopping dynamic forwards, Zeben Buades and Nami. A goal each steered CD Marino through a niggling game at home to CD Vera for a 2-0 win to open a four point lead in their Tercera Division group.
For much of the first half Marino were frustrated by the disjointed pattern of the game, thanks to a weak ref and some exaggerated reactions to tackles by both sets of players. The yellows from the north of Tenerife favoured a big punt of the ball but their accuracy left their front men chasing lost causes. Nami´s early long ball was more tempting for Marino as it fell just in front of inrushing Zeben, but he sliced it over the Vera bar.

Zeben and Makana tussled for a loose ball that brought a free kick for the yellows, an easy take for David in goal. Meshack was ready to use his size to pressure the home defence but another wide ball only brought a corner. Mechi took it short and set Barcos up for a shot that missed the post. Charni was strong in the centre of defence for Marino, when Meshack shaped up for a shot, the defender played the ball out calmly to diffuse the danger.

Marino worked hard to take control of the action, Stephane offered good options on the left wing and towards the end of the half he swapped to the right to keep the visiting defence off guard. Nami snapped a low shot in which found Alibey alert between the posts. The half ended with a confident penalty shout from Vera for pulling when Meshack went down in the box. The ref just waved their demands away. Simon tested David with a neat shot as the second half started but it soon switched to the other end where Alberto slipped the ball through. Nami turned on the spot and swung a boot at the ball but it lacked power and Alibey had it covered.

An hour gone and Marino made the breakthrough. Alberto made good progress down the right and put in a tempting low cross, Zeben cruised in and tapped the ball past the keeper to make it 1-0. The goal maker departed soon after as last seasons top scorer Ahmed returned from a spell in Belgium. The striker looked a bit rusty but it´s a frightening thought for the rest of the league to know Marino are going to increase their goal threat. There was still a lot of work to do to ensure the win. Meshack broke clear and only had David to beat but the goalie came out and narrowed the angle before blocking his attempt.

Home coach Kiko de Diego, encourages his players to be versatile and support each other. Antonio Samuel demonstrated that well as the left back overlapped and made a great pass into the path of Nami who buried the ball in the back of the net for the second goal with just under 20 minutes to play. Nami went close to adding a third goal, his shot was only half saved but scrambled away. Vera were still hoping for a way back, when Diego lost the ball in defence they were ready to pounce before Charni made a saving tackle. This wasn´t Marino on top form but their work rate and self belief served them well.

Getting to the top of the table is only half the battle. CD Marino are a prized scalp now for every opponent and sometimes they will have to grind out results if they want to win the big prize. A sixth minute penalty goal conceded showed that second from bottom AU Guimar hadn´t travelled down the Tenerife motorway just to be the supporting act. Discipline, hard work, and character were the ingredients that enabled the blues to reel in the points to remain three points clear of the chasing pack.

Samuel´s rash tackle on Esau was converted by Pablo and Guimar were fired up. Andy was popping up all across the front line, he fed the ball to Ethan, David made sure he gathered the shot. Marino took a breath and built from the back, Nami got into his stride and coasted past Pablo, his cross was met by incoming Zeben whose offside shot went straight at goalie Hernandez. Zeben had locked onto his target now, even a shot on the turn after being knocked to the ground, was only just wide. Alberto from the left stung Hernandez hands, he made it safe with the second grab. Kike and Nata were formidable in the centre of the Guimar defence but Juanito was struggling to cope with the pace of Nami who left him chasing shadows time and time again.

Zeben timed his bursts through the middle expertly, Guimar could sense him coming but couldn´t stop him. Diego showed he had his shooting boots on too, a rocket shot from deep only veered off the target at the last moment. Just after the half hour the breakthrough came. It was the Nami, Zeben combination again, the finish from Zeben gave Hernandez no chance. Jaime tried to follow up to take the lead, he was through on the right before a Kike challenge denied him a shot. Half time was fast approaching when home captain Saavedra ran onto a though ball and buried it with a powerful header. The blues looked mightily relieved to go off with their noses in front.

Credit to Guimar, they came back out with positive intentions, a Kike free kick kept David alert in goal and the arrival of sub Jesua added to the physical side of their game. Marino pressed forward, Zeben saw his shot heading for goal before Hernandez made a fine one handed save. Jesua was strong in the air, it took a well timed headed clearance from Nikki to to prevent him getting a clear aim. Nami tried to catch Hernandez unaware with a low drive, the keeper got his body behind it for a safe block. It was still a wide open game and two penalty claims added to the drama. Roy was a constant threat to Guimar, as he ran through a cluster of defenders, Pablo closed in and made a lunging tackle in the box. The ref waved away the Marino penalty claims. At the other end the Guimar defenders were supporting the attack, Juanito came in on the left and went down tackled by Nikki. The Guimar bench rose in protest but the ref still wasn’t tempted to give another spot kick.

It was a nervous finish to the game, Jaime tried to chip Hernandez and just cleared the bar, and when Nami had a clear sight of goal for Marino, his strike was wild and high. The final minutes ticked away and the final whistle was a welcome sound for Marino.

An inspired switch by coach Kiko de Diego gave Zeben Buades a more central attacking role and he exploited it to the full to plunder a hat trick that blew apart UD San Fernando 4-2 to keep CD Marino two points clear at the top of their Tercera Division group.

Nami, the usual main striker revelled in more of a roaming role and the two forwards complimented each other. Within the first ten minutes Zeben had curled a shot over the bar, and Nami had forced a low save at the post. Fermin, in goal for the Gran Canaria side, looked unsure when racing out wide to clear another Nami threat. San Fernando, tucked in the chasing pack behind Marino, had their moments, Abraham was dangerous down the left but Saavedra was on top form in the blues rear guard and cleared the danger. Abraham was soon back for another go, this time his shot was repelled by home keeper David.

Saavedra was having an influence on both ends of the pitch, a well timed tackle stopped Fran in his tracks, and his long ball picked out Zeben, forcing Fermin to make a sliding interception. Nikki had a couple of good chances, the best one was just wide of the yellows post. A home goal was inevitable, after the 30 minute water break, a right cross bobbled along the San Fernando goal line before being crashed in by Zeben. The yellows ended the half with a strong attacking spell and carried it on after the break to level the game as Alejo made good progress down the right to set up Quintero for their goal. It was vital that Marino closed the door on their opponents, Samuel´s break down the left found Zeben eager and waiting to restore the home lead. The killer blow came when Nami stretched the yellows defence and passed to Zeben who skipped past the outstretched hand of the goalie for an easy tap in to complete his treble.

Despite a double substitution,San Fernando struggled to find a way back as Marino tightened the screw. Samuel made Fermin work hard to flick away a free kick, Nami was close to tucking in the loose ball. Marino made their own changes with Santi Ramirez and Bamba both getting late run outs. Diego played a key role in the final home goal, he found space on the right and sent an inviting ball in to Nami, his finish was deserved reward for his hard work all game. There was just pride for San Fernando to play for, in the closing minutes, sub Ojeda tried his luck with a curling shot into the roof of the home goal for a consolation. Marino were convincing winners, everyone is pulling together and playing a full part in the overall strength of the team

With a second consecutive 3-0 win, CD Marino served notice that they are top of their Tercera Division group on merit and ready to repel all challengers. Last weeks triple came at Union Puerto, this week Villa Santa Brigida from Gran Canaria felt the full force of well organised, confident, and hard working team display.

Santa Brigida may have been at the foot of the table but they were a big, strong side willing to attack from the off. Their direct style caused a few early problems and just 10 minutes into the game Rodo slipped the home defence and fired at the open goal. David flew across the line and tipped the shot aside. Marino took the warning on board and clicked into top gear, Diego picked out Samuel on the left and the visitors defence had to make a swift clearance. Charni carved out an opening, a pass to Zeben in space might have produced the blues opener, instead a shot went straight to Jonay in goal. Samuel had too much pace for the Brigida defence, he ran onto a well measured floated ball from Roy but could only crash it into the side netting.

Nami was purposeful and mobile up front, he left three defenders in his wake as he headed for goal before setting Roy up for a free header. Brigida were already floundering, Uday tried a quick break only to find Nikki waiting to win the ball from him at right back. Even marking Marino players was proving tough, Samuel continually sped down the left to beat their offside trap, a clever chip nearly broke the deadlock. Staying alert is helping Marino to close out opponents, when captain Santo tried to break free, David was equal to his shot and cleared it with his finger tips. A home goal was long overdue as half time approached, a short corner found Samuel and he showed he´s not just about speed, he swept the ball under the crossbar and into the net with a powerful strike for a 1-0 lead at the break.

Samuel couldn´t wait to get back on the pitch, two more of his close efforts opened the second half. Brigida were under siege, a series of corners brought their reward when Uday turned the ball into his own net after 51 minutes. There should have been a third goal soon after, Jonay got his whole body behind a shot to keep the score down. Alberto was the first home change when Zeben went off, the visitors managed a brief spell on the attack, it was little more than a breather as Marino stormed back. There are plenty more young players eager to break into the Tenerife south team, when Samuel went off, Brigida might have hoped to catch their breath, that was not an option as Sergio, brother of Nikki, added his sprints to the right flank. Stephane took over from Roy and bolstered the left wing, his first touch was a corner for Charni to head wide.

A clean sheet and a couple of goals would have done most teams, Marino weren´t about to ease off early. A slick move from the right produced a great combination as Nikki fed his brother Sergio to round the defence and supply a perfect set up for Nami to reflect his teams superiority with a final goal just before the whistle. Marino are now two points clear of second spot, and two more ahead of third.

Winning breeds confidence, and confidence breeds success. CD Marino are living proof of that old saying, but they also showed hard work and plenty of skill in a 2-0 home win over CD Santa Ursula that gave them maximum points from the opening three games. It was a tough, bruising encounter as the south hosted the north of Tenerife in Playa de Las Americas, and the blues were lethal to take a two minute lead.

Roy launched a long, deep ball, Juanmi got a touch, and Nami planted his shot wide of keeper Juanje. There was no sitting back on the advantage, Marino surged again with Prince threading a pass through to Nami that was cleared by the visiting defence. Santa Ursula gave goalie David Ruso his first work to do from a weak shot by Chus. After 20 minutes the reds were reduced to 10 players, Guille could have no complaints after his wild lunge took down Prince. It meant more work for their captain Juanue in goal, he had to smother a close attempt from Nami that was inching towards his goal line.

A Juanmi header was cleared but soon followed by Alberto cutting in from the right before blasting a shot over the bar. Nicky was getting in some of his speedy overlaps on the right and chances kept coming. A much needed water break did little to quell the Marino fire, there was a squad wide willingness to take chances in search for another gaol, Saavedra tried his luck and wasn´t that far off target. Santa Ursula had another knock back when Azael landed badly after a tackle and had to be carried off by his team mates, and needed treatment for a knee injury. They could have ended the half further depleted, as tempers frayed, Miguel had a couple of pushes on Roy in full view of the ref but was still able to join his team mates for the half time break.

The second half opened with Marino in an upbeat mood. Prince sped round the back of the reds defence and launched a teasing cross for Nami but Juanje plucked the ball out of the air. Santa Ursula were determined to chase the game, former CD Tenerife midfielder Vitolo was not as sprightly as in his prime but read the game well and dropped in some neat passes. Diego took over from Prince and added new options to the home attacks. Injury replacement Erik, was prompting some raids down the left for Santa Ursula, he sped down the wing and delivered a good cross but there were no red shirts waiting. Miguel got lucky again, this time pushing Diego in the goal mouth with no sanction.

A Nami corner during sustained pressure by Marino, found Diego in front of goal ready to bury the ball in the corner of the net for a 2-0 lead after 76 minutes. Frustration was getting the better of Santa Ursula, Lentini ploughed into Saavedra, again the ref was lenient. There was still some purpose left in the visitors, sub Gabri hit a perfect cross field ball to Joel which brought a top class save from David Ruso. Vitolo crafted another delicate free kick that forced a corner, Erik pressed up and his shot scraped the bar. Marino were good value for their win, there´s a strong belief among the players that showed in their passing and awareness of each other. It will get harder from now on as other teams try to derail them, but the blues have a good look about them.

Repelled all game by visiting goalie Edwin, CD Marino kept coming back for more and were rewarded with two late goals to overcome a Buzanada first half strike for a 2-1 opening day win of the Tercera season.

Stephane caught the eye on the left wing on his home debut for the blues, his pace and vision translated well from the Belgium second division. Javi Gonzalez was again leading the Marino attack and only a stern block from Ramses halted his early progress. The summer break brought big changes for both Tenerife south squads. Kiko de Diego returned to the ground where he played to take over the home bench and last season´s coach Zeben Hernandez, made a swift return in charge of Buzanada.

Edgar found plenty of space from left back for Buzanada but his high, wild cross was no threat. Ayoze was closer with a long range dipping shot but David Ruso´s gloves weren´t called into action. Marino grew into the game, Roy, a new recruit from mainland side SD Ejea, teed up the ball for Stephane, his shot was straight at the keeper. Buzanada lost Edgar to injury after 20 minutes but his replacement, Pirri, gave his team mates a big target man to aim for. It didn´t take long for Pirri to show his worth, picking up a loose ball in space he unleashed a powerful shot wide of Ruso and into the bottom corner of his net for a 0-1 lead.

Marino had their own enforced change, Stephane went off injured, Niki came on at left back with Nami moving forward. Charni, another Belgium import, added midfield experience gained from spells with Inter Bratislava, Manchester United youth, and even Carlisle United. The new boy shut the door on Ayoze as he looked to break just before half time. Ayoze returned to clip the Marino bar with a long shot, and Alberto found Bamba in space, his effort failed to test the confident Edwin. Javi Gonzalez tried to increase the tempo, he rounded the visitors defence before Edwin smothered his shot. Nikki exposed the Buzanada defence down the right but put the ball wide of the goal.

With barely 20 minutes of the second half gone, Charni got a second booking for a foul on Efren and ended his debut early. Marino regrouped and continued to take the game to Buzanada but found Edwin in top form. His opposite number, Ruso had seen far too little action, even the scorer Pirri hadn´t forced any saves from the goalie. Marino made a change, Prince for Bamba and pushed to get back into the game. It paid off, Javi created havoc in the Buzanada box, and Juanmi finished off a rebound from a half clearance to level with just over 10 minutes left. Ayoze looked odds on to restore the away lead, he made space but hit a soft low shot which Ruso handled easily.

Buzanada were slipping as Marino camped in their final third. Roy fired in a series of corners, Nami skied the ball from one. Another corner in the last minute went beyond the onrushing keeper and a frantic defensive scramble produced a hand ball. Javi slotted the penalty into the net to seal the comeback win and set the new season off on a positive note.

From sub to starter, CD Marino´s young striker Jony was thrust into a vitally important penultimate game of the regular season after Ahmed picked up a pre game knock. Slipping of late, the Playa de Las Americas hosts needed points to avoid being late arrivals at the relegation gate. Union Viera, from Gran Canaria, needed points to to rubber stamp a promotion play off spot. The stage was set and Jony shone like a star.

Viera won their way back into the Tercera Division a year ago and have had a great season but their early efforts were weak. Dani Herrera was easily seen off by blue shirted defender Brayan, Ramon was low on power and home keeper Brandon mopped up his shot, Choco did no better with a hopeful lob. Mendoza and Xiraxi also had chances in the first 10 minutes but found the Marino defence in good form.

Marino´s opener on the 11th minute showed that sharp finishing is better than a barrage of near misses, it was a triumph for their youth programme as Samuel crossed from the left and Jony jumped well to head the ball past the goalie to take the lead. That got Marino flowing, Prince was making things happen in midfield and forced a nervous second take from Alejandro in the visitors net. The keeper got in a right mess when he came out to defuse a Marino attack, he half saved and raced out to chase the ball and ended facing his own goal as Jony slipped his strike past a defender to bulge the net on the half hour. Marino looked the hungrier and more committed side against their strangely subdued rivals.

Viera were in tatters, Samuel fancied his chances and blasted the ball towards the target, Kevin Perez felt the sting as it struck his face, stopping a certain goal was at least a painful consulation, and both teams appreciated the water break it heralded. Refreshed, Viera tried to get back in the game, a quick break ended with the ball clearing the bar. Back came Marino, carving through the Viera ranks with Javi finishing the move with a tap in as the defence froze. Strangely, Viera didn´t make any changes for the second half opening, Mendoza got a sight of goal but Favarel was calm as he won the ball and played it out of danger. Elvis did a back clearance to Alejandro, the Viera keeper sliced the ball and was lucky that it landed just out of reach of Javi.

Finally 10 minutes after the restart, Viera brought on the nippy Segio and it sparked a reaction, it came from Choco who cut in from the right to pull a goal back. The respite didn´t last long, a wave of Marino players surged forward, the ball came to Prince and he evaded the goalie for a neat finish to make it 4-1. The visitors briefly recognised the importance of their task and showed some fight, Herrera hit a powerful shot that brought a decisive diving clearance from Brandon. Prince was having a right royal game, he won the ball and played it into the path of sub Djavan but it ran on a little too quickly. Sesma came on for Prince shortly after and set up Djavan with a smart pass, the young forward stumbled and Viera were able to recover in time.

Moussa was the final home sub, he added some extra strength to the attack as Marino pressed for a big finish. Everyone wanted to help Jony complete a hat trick but it wasn´t quite working. The two goal hero didn ´t let his personal target detract from the team, he continued to create openings down the right and laid the ball off to Sesma for a goal attempt. Jony then rounded Mario with a turn of speed but was frustrated when the goalie grabbed the ball. The fifth goal was a cool finish from Guti who took his time to curl the ball past Alejandro from outside the box. Marino wee good value for their big win and will hope the young players, and more consistency, will see the blues pushing for honours next season.

Greater need drove relegation haunted SD Tenisca to a 1-3 win at mid table CD Marino. The Tenerife hosts were left to regret not turning first half superiority into goals as the La Palma side tapped into their anger at refereeing decisions to drive a determined and deserved victory.

The action was switched from Marino´s normal home to the smaller Anexo Stadium across the road but a large contingent of Tenisca fans made their white shirted players feel at home. Marino favoured a series of long, deep balls in the early exchanges but they were often wild and were easily defended or ran on ahead of their chasing players. Ricardo floated in a well measured ball into the box for Tenisca and Maury chested it down well, Brandon in the home goal gathered it up safely. Tano also had a chance to spring an away lead, he robbed his marker but took the ball too wide to try a shot.

Tano thought he could do better with his next try, a run through the middle, this time Brandon made a fine save with his feet. Marino got sharper, Niky created an opening for Kevin Castro who couldn´t quite outwit the Tenisca defence. Mylan Carrasco powered down the left and screwed the ball back across the goal mouth but it beat his incoming team mates. It was a scorching early afternoon and the players were happy to take an unplanned water break as the ref had to get his in ear receiver repaired. Once back in communication with his linesmen, play was resumed.

A Tenisca corner was threatening until Brandon punched the ball away from danger. Tenisca were alert for quick breaks and were furious when the ref pulled back Maury for offisde as he raced towards the home goal. That could have been a turning point as Marino had their best spell for the final 15 minutes of the first half. Mylan curled in a dangerous shot that Pablo cleared well, Javi clawed back a ball that was heading out of play, and got a shot in that Pablo responded well to. Djavan was ready to test the keeper but Cardenas closed him down well and made him put the ball out of play. As the goal less half ended, the simmering discontent on the Tenisca bench boiled over into angry exchanges with the ref, he responded by sending off the coach Oscar Valle and the back up goalie Jesus.

The second half opened with Jony replacing Mylan for the home side, and coach Valle popping up on the dressing rooms roof to shout instructions to his players. The players responded well, within a minute Rivas had latched on to a neat pass from Sota and buried the ball in the bottom corner of the home net. Kevin Castro and Tenisca captain Jordan were testing each other with a series of close challenges as the away team grew in confidence. Sota went on a good raid for the whites, Brandon came out to meet him but mistimed it and the shot beat him and doubled the visitors lead. Home sub Samuel looked lively, his good build up couldn´t reduce the arrears as he blasted over the bar.

Kevin Castro was pushing forward more, he looked shielded from a shot on goal but struck his shot sweetly to put Marino back in with a chance after 73 minutes. Bamba got a strike in soon after, he drilled it hard and low, Pablo was down quickly for a safe take. The three points were vital to Tenisca and they were determined not to let the win slip away.
